How to Lift Your Jeep

Like any good DIY project, success depends on having the right tools and setup to get the job done. Begin by making sure your workspace has a ceiling at least 10-feet high and clear space at least six feet around the vehicle, so you can easily access the wheels and won’t damage the Jeep’s exterior.
Once your space is set, gather the following tools:
- Lift and pole jack, or jack and jack stands, or vehicle lift
- Metric socket set with 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch sockets
- Socket extension
- Trim panel removal tools
- Breaker bar
- Penetrating oil
- Lift kit

How to Install a Spring Lift

- Jack up your Jeep
- Remove all four wheels
- Remove brake line bracket and sway bar end links
- Remove the front shocks beginning with the upper shock mount
- Use pole jack to support the front axle
- Lower the front axle and remove the coil spring
- Remove the lower shock
- Insert new springs
- Install new shocks according to manufacturer specifications
- Reconnect factory end links
- Reconnect brake line bracket
- Support the rear axle
- Remove the bolts holding the top of the rear shocks in place
- Remove the lower shock mount and shock
- Remove the brake line bracket – leave the brake line in place
- Disconnect and secure the ABS wiring
- Lower the rear axle, remove spring and sway bar
- Place existing pad on new lift spring
- Install spring
- Raise axle back up and reinstall original sway bar end link
- Install new rear shocks according to manufacturer specifications
- Lift axle and align bottom of shock to shock mount – fasten
- Reconnect brake line bracket
- Plug ABS wiring back in
- Reinstall vent tube
- Reinstall wheels and tires
